After a quick install, you’ll see the new Xobni toolbar appear in Outlook - and suddenly information will become much easier to find.

When a new email arrives, the sender’s full communication history appears in the Xobni sidebar, including past conversations, attachments and contact details.

Xobni Features

With Xobni’s instant search, As you type the email and people you’re looking for pop out immediately .

One of Xobni’s most popular features is the “files exchanged” panel. This feature shows you all the attachments you’ve sent to and received from a contact.

A contact’s phone number is displayed in the Xobni sidebar which is extracted from your mails. This way, you can see someone’s phone number even if you’ve never actually entered them into your Outlook contacts.

If you hover over the phone icon next to the number, you can see the text of the email from which their phone number was extracted.

Xobni includes integrations with three leading Web services, Yahoo! Mail, Facebook Platform and Hoover’s as well as significant improvements to its Skype integration. These strategic integrations support Xobni’s efforts to make the inbox more useful through their intelligent sidebar.

Company Insights

The company raised $4 million from the investment funds of Vinod Khosla, a Sun Microsystems co-founder, and Niklas Zennstrom, one of the creators of Skype.

In February last year, Bill Gates demonstrated the program at Microsoft’s San Jose developers’ conference and called it “the next generation in social networking.”

    Instead of the side bar, SenderOK has a business card in the header panel. It rescues good mail that may have been spam filtered.

    I think xobni has a lot of cool features, but I think also, that a lot are not very useful. I don´t use xobni because it can´t search keywords in attachements and this is somehthing I consider normal in a search tool. My search tool is lookeen (www.lookeen.com) and it makes working with outlook so much easier for me, I don´t want to miss it.
