What is PureSolo?

PureSolo is an online music store which lets you record your own personal versions of well-known tracks to own, singing or playing with full backing band, to songs by popular artists and composers.

How does it work?

PureSolo has its own proprietary software ‘The PuSolo Player’ that lets musicians to create their own tracks from the comfort of their home or workplace.

The free model software allows the user to view sheet music or lyrics on screen, play, practice and digitally record their instruments or voice over high quality backing tracks featuring professional studio musicians.

PureSolo also makes it easy for musicians to share their masterpieces with friends, teachers or talent scouts. User generated music and content can also be uploaded to their social network, where they help like-minded musicians connect as well as gets their friends to rate their tracks.

To start with you have to first install the Free PureSolo Plugin and within minutes you can be recording yourself singing or playing with professional backing musicians to your favorite tracks. Each track costs between £0.49 and £1.99 to download. Once downloaded, a track can be used and re-used an unlimited number of times and can be burned to CD, saved as an mp3 file or emailed through PureSolo’s sharing facility.

PureSolo has a catalogue of thousands of backing tracks. Users download an 8.5MB browser add-on which lets you interact with the site and record a track. The service comes with lyrics, sheet music or guitar tabs and users access a professional backing track. They then record their own versions of the songs and can share the tracks.

PureSolo competes in the online karaoke space with others like MikeStar, an online-karaoke community for Europe.

But what sets them apart is their emphasis on actual music notation and recording. The startup is founded by CEO David Kaplan in February 2007. It is funded by a handful of private investors.
