Posted by ilovegajeebo in Latest News at Gajeebo, startups on March 5, 2010

Now you don’t have to spend big bucks on buying branded toys, because Rentoys.in will help you rent them at very nominal prices.
Kids have simple psychology of playing with a toy for sometime and then leaving it. This at times becomes a big issue with the parents due to the cost involved. Now you can rent the toys for short periods at low costs which can in turn serve both purposes.
Rentoys has good inventory of popular toy brands of international repute. With their flexible monthly membership offers, we are sure that their concept would be a winner.
DesignChords - Online Marketplace for Creative Designers
Posted by ilovegajeebo in Latest News at Gajeebo, startups on March 4, 2010
If you are looking to outsource your design related requirements, you can give a try to DesignChords.com; but that’s after they have popularized their site on web.
The site lets you post your design related projects and receive submissions. After you select the best designs, you can make the payments to the designer. The best part is that it refunds the total amount of project if you receive less than 20 responses.
The start-up is in very very early stages and we can only find one project available on the platform and that also is posted by the promoters themselves. Overall concept is pretty similar to all the other project finder platforms but with a focus on DESIGNING.

Posted by ilovegajeebo in Latest News at Gajeebo, Latest Startups, startups on December 18, 2009

Thankoo is a thanks giving platform. It lets you thank your buddies, and close people.
The website even has a point system to keep you interested by competing with your peers.
As a whole the system doesn’t have a great utility but by adding value for corporate clients, they can definitely come up with a revenue model.
Verisquare - Private Classifieds Network for Companies and Colleges
Posted by ilovegajeebo in Latest News at Gajeebo, Latest Startups, startups on October 9, 2009

Verisquare is mainly an online bulletin board service for an organization. The collegegoers and company employees can use it for posting classifieds and sharing it within their respective organization.
For a small company, Verisquare offers great service as it is not possible for them to build a customized platform for classifieds.
In our opinion, Verisquare should also think about offering other services which a SME or organization can use such as Email, Chatting etc. To start with, it’s a great initiative.

Posted by ilovegajeebo in Latest News at Gajeebo, Latest Startups, startups on August 27, 2009

Blue ID seems like an innovation in mobile security domain. There are many companies that are working on securing the mobile tramsacations which is till date not really foolproof.
Verity Technologies with some of its apps like Blue ID & Mocazzo can change the present scenario and bring the much needed security to mobile transactions of various forms.
The application is still to be tested at large in public and the company website doesn’t profile any list of clients who are using this app at present.
Dealpals - Search and Share Deals, Discount Schemes and Free Things
Posted by ilovegajeebo in Latest News at Gajeebo, startups on July 30, 2009

I love deals, and so do everyone. Whenever we get a request to review a deals website, we are just in too much hurry, as we get excited by the very opportunity.
The website looks pretty ordinary and even the navigation is not that attrative.
The site content is a collaborative effort of users and thus it will take time to build up a huge repository of deals.

Wikipedia and Keyword Suggestions Now on Gajeebo
Wikipedia now on GAJEEBO!!
After a week of learning new open source technologies such as JSON and seeking ways to access Wikipedia articles, Freebase db and lots of tech stuff, finally our developers have cracked it.
We have accessed almost all API’s via .NET. We have played around with XML a lot and worked even on XSL to traverse and render it as XHTML, though JSON was never touched before in our labs.
It was a tough ask from our developers to learn a new concept as JSON which is as such quite a old standard on web.
Freebase is an amazing community that allows you to access Wikipedia articles via various open source technology. Though there are plenty of illustrations on their site as well as on web, it was a little tough ask to retrieve and traverse JSON using javascript.
Hit and Trials and our dedication proved fruitful and we managed to finally launch it on web today.
Do send in some feedback on the UI and usability of this new service we have added today.
Gajeebo Adds Travel Search - Google Maps, Hotels Search and Yahoo Trip Plans
Posted by whatsupgajeebo in Latest News at Gajeebo on February 6, 2009
Things evolve, so do Gajeebo~~ an important though minuscule feature we have added today is the ‘Travel Search’.
Just enter your destination and it brings back Map, Hotels and Trip Plans. It took so much time to figure out which service to pick, mainly because of availability of vast options.
Hotel Search was the easiest to pick, as there are hardly any services which provide an API for hotel search based on destination. Thanks to great work done by Kayak developers, that Gajeebo is now able to provide a info about hotels in a destination.
Map Experience - It was a tough Journey
We tried our hands at Microsoft Virtual Earth, but even after spending almost 7 man days, we could not come with a very nice featured map. We sincerely found it tough to plug MS map because of many factors, primarily being the information is scattered and there are far too many complications in using their API. Though we still use the Geocode services of Microsoft but it was not a very friendly experience working on MS API.
So what was the alternative, I guess you know the answer, Google came in as a savior and it took us not more than 1.5 hrs to plugg-in a great map based on ajax search api with enhanced zoom and scroll features.
What about Trip Plans from Yahoo! Travel
We always believe that learning from others experience help you travel conviniently and also lets you explore places which you might miss out. Yahoo Trip Plans are a great way to learn from the experiences of vast crowd who have been to a particular destination and comes back with strong reviews, likes and talks.
Finally, Feedback Please
As we always state that our vision is to enhance the services each and every day, so I would appeal you to please post in some feedback of this new offering of ours and how we can better it.
Thanks. Gajeebo Team

Foodzie - Buy Food from Small Artisan Producers and Growers
Posted by ilovegajeebo in Daily Featured Websites, Latest News at Gajeebo on January 23, 2009
Foodzie is an online marketplace to discover and buy food from small artisan producers and growers. It is a great platform for small quant producers.

Buy Food from Small Artisan Producers and Growers
The Foodzie technology makes it simple for small producers to sell their products online and aggregate all these products within a marketplace. This makes it easy for foodies to discover some really great food.
The platform helps provide a centralized hub for these small food vendors, giving them more exposure than they’d get from their standalone sites. It focuses primarily on gourmet and organic health foods.
Business Model
The revenue model works like this - Foodzie earns commissions on each transaction that happens through their site. The platform handles only transactions and leaves distribution up to the individual stores.
The vendors pay very less commission comparative to the offline marketers, as Foodzie doesn’t warehouse the items it sells.
Funding
The platform raised $1 million in funding in Dec’08 from angel investors, led by First Round Capital and SoftTech VC, and is considering raising a follow-on round.
Future Plans
Foodzie is planning to add videos and other social networking features to allow buyers to communicate with the consumers. It helps in bringing the consumers closer to the people making and selling the food.
