KidZui - Websites, Games, and YouTube Videos for Kids
KidZui provides a browser that appeals to kids and only lets them navigate certain pre-approved areas of the web. The KidZui browser is designed to offer kids the same expansive experience adults have on the web.
What’s different about KidZui is that instead of trying to create a new imaginary world for children online, it has pulled together content from the Web, ensured it’s appropriate for kids, and then built an engaging environment for kids around that content. To build its service, the company hired as many as 200 contractors–parents and teachers–to rate and review Web sites and videos. It then categorized each piece of content into an appropriate age group. The company employs an editorial team to keep its library fresh.
Once parents sign up for the service, their kids (up to 10 per family) can log onto KidZui, create and decorate a personal avatar, and surf among a collection of 500,000 Web sites, pictures, and videos reviewed by the KidZui team. The KidZui browsing experience is very graphical and consists of three primary types of content: websites, photos, and videos.

This content has been categorized into over 8,000 categories such as “soccer” and “whales”. Kids can search the site by keyword, and the results are determined by a “kidrank” system that keep track of how popular they are. Kids can also use the homepage as a jumping off point for browsing; it displays both popular and most visited websites.
One great feature about KidZui is the stimulating environment it creates in order to encourage children to explore and learn all they want. There are also social options available for children, so they can interact within this protected environment. Similar to other child-protection Internet services, there is a wristband code option associated with KidZui accounts.
