Find Common Ground

According to website promoters, it uses a proprietary “Similarity Network Engine,” which calculates what you have in common with other site members so you can share recommendations with those who have same interests and perspectives as yours.

How does it work?

After signing up, you can rate and write reviews (micro review of 140 words) on things like movies, books, food, sports, politics, animals etc.

Each rating, review helps the engine determine your tastes. The more you rate on Lunch, the better your matches become. You can see your matches and the percentage of compatibility between you and those like you. There are also tag cloud displays that show what items you both like and which ones you don’t.

You can also share contributions from Lunch onto Twitter, Facebook, and many other social media sites such as Wordpress, Digg etc.

Lunch also carries with it the required tool belt for any strong online community. Examples include a Twitter-like update feed, community engaging games messaging, pro¬filing, and image uploading and so on.

GoldMail - Voice Over Visual Messaging

GoldMail - Voice Over Visual Messaging

GoldMail - Voice Over Visual Messaging

Endless email and voicemail exchanges are a big waste of time. It’s increasingly hard to get anybody’s attention and it’s frustrating when your message seems to get “lost in translation” and doesn’t come across the way you intended. With GoldMail you create personal and powerful messages in seconds. GoldMail is a startup whose application brings email messages to life by combining voice recordings with images. GoldMail won’t replace email or voicemail. Instead, it gives you a new option when showing and telling someone something is the best way for them to understand your message.

To create a talkie in Goldmail, first you grab your images, either from your hard disk, by taking screen grabs, or by creating text slides in Goldmail. You sort the images into the order you want. Then you press Record, and while you are talking, click the “next slide” button to advance the show (you can also use an audio file from your PC). Goldmail records the transition points. Once you’ve created your presentation, you get an option to e-mail it, link to it, or embed it.

Goldmail Messages are created using GoldMail’s Windows client (a Mac version is on the way), and are then uploaded and hosted on GoldMail’s servers. Recipients of a GoldMail message are sent a text introduction along with a link to the full GoldMail movie. And while you can make the messages as complex as you’d like, they generally only take around 5-10 minutes to put together.

In order to keep the application simple, the functionality is limited. There are no bells and whistles such as transitions between slides or music track overlays. But don’t let that stop you from giving it a go. Its real beauty is its simplicity. The consumer version of Goldmail is free and allows unlimited views for your talkies, but all messages end with advertising. There’s a pro version for $9.95 a month that has no ads and that offers tracking, so you can see who’s viewing your messages.
