Hubdub - The World’s News Forecaster

Hubdub is a startup news forecaster that allows users to track news stories, predict their outcomes and compete with other news junkies. In theory, this predicting process turns you from being a passive news consumer into an active news participant and then if you are correct, you receive credits that help you reach the leaderboard.

Hubdub is a platform and community that combines the value of user-generated news aggregation with passionate prediction markets. Unlike Digg or Reddit, Hubdub tracks only the stories that people decide are worth creating a market around. To create a market, someone asks a question. They request either a “yes” or “no” answer or offer a multiple choice scenario, then determine the duration of trading. Successful predictors make the leaderboard in topics such as Technology, Politics and Sports, which they can link back to their blogs, sites or profiles on social networks.

Hubdub has created a special section for Reuters which highlights the latest news and events. On the community site, interested members can friend other members and the Reuters account as well. There’s also a widget option so visitors can take the latest Reuters predictions and place them around the Web.
