Gumgum - Advertisers and Publishers Network to Distribute Licensed Photos, Videos and Audio

Content is licensed for a fixed period of time in offline mode and hence easy to distribute and manage. However, on the web, the content is licensed for an unlimited period of time. This situation presents a terrible problem of how to determine the licensing cost when you don’t know who is using your content and how often.

Gumgum - Network of Advertisers and Publishers to Share Licensed Original Photos, Videos and Audio

Gumgum - Network of Advertisers and Publishers to Share Licensed Original Photos, Videos and Audio

GumGum envisions to solve this problem of content licensing on the web.

The service allows content creators to track the usage of their digital content (photos, videos and audio) and enable them to charge the users.

They use perfect information to facilitate a fair transaction between publishers and content providers. The result is a system that leverages usage based licensing models to enhance monetization, increase access to content and much more.

Gumgum Licensing Models

GumGum has developed two new licensing models that make the best content in the world accessible to publishers of all sizes. Pay-per-use licensing and ad-supported.

Pay-per-use allows publishers to license content on a CPM basis and Ad-supported allows publishers to license content for FREE. In exchange, an advertising unit is displayed alongside the licensed content. The advertising revenue subsidizes the licensing costs.

GumGum requires images be published via a Flash object so that impressions can be tracked and billed properly. Flash also allows them to serve interactive advertisements, served via VideoEgg

Photographers from all over the world can upload their photos to GumGum and publishers can browse through them and license them after creating an account.

DuckDuckGo - Search Engine with Topic Summaries and No Spam Content

DuckDuckGo, a term we can never think to associate with a website, unless the website is on ducks or something related to it. But do you really wish to know what it is?

Its a new search engine that in addition to links, provide zero-click information, e.g. topic summaries.

DuckDuckGo - A new General Purpose Search Engine

DuckDuckGo - A new General Purpose Search Engine

Why DuckDuckGo is different from other Search Engines ?

One of the main concerns in search engines is the amount of spam that creeps up from time to time. There are so many irrelevant websites that comes as a part of your results.

Their vision is to show results that have less spam and clutter by retrieving them from human edited sources like Wikipedia.

Human-edited sources have the distinct advantage of not linking to irrelevant sites, and the titles and descriptions always tend to make sense.

The Search Engine has special pages that distinguish topics with similar names.

About DuckDuckGo User Interface

As regards the user interface itself, the proceedings are made simpler by the inclusion of keyboard shortcuts and the automatic highlighting of results. Likewise, site icons are displayed next to the existing links in order to give you a visual representation in advance.

In finishing, Duck Duck Go attempts to bridge some gaps by providing a more human-oriented experience. You can give it a spin at the provided address, and see if the above mentioned materializes into a more realized search process for you or not.

The search engine is founded by Gabriel Weinberg, an internet entrepreneur with a couple of other ventures under his belt.
