Yahoo HotJobs Acquired by Monster for $225 Million

Monster Worldwide has acquired the assets of Yahoo HotJobs for $225 million in cash.

Monster and Yahoo have also entered into a three year commercial traffic agreement, to take effect upon the closing of the acquisition, in which Monster will become Yahoo’s provider of career and job content on the Yahoo homepage in the United States and Canada.

Geocities, the free web hosting service from Yahoo is shutting down its services from 26th October 2009. It was home to the first websites of a host of users - who later became techies and moved on to other platforms.

Geocities pages was the MySpace of the 90’s with the a plethora of absolutely whacky user web sites complete with an overdose of primary colors and glittering text hosted on it.
